This solid brass part replaces the flimsy pot-metal original linkage shaft. The original rod often breaks where the roll-pin retains it in the door handle, and can only be purchased as part of a new outside door handle. Then the key lock in the door just spins around like it isn't attached to anything: its not. Our replacement lock cylinder shaft is a much stronger design, and can be transferred into the old door handle in just a few minutes, once the handle is removed.
